What is URL encoding?
URLs can only contain a limited set of ASCII characters. Everything else, including spaces and non-English letters, is converted to UTF-8 bytes written as %XX. For example, a space becomes %20 and é becomes %C3%A9.
Two modes
The default mode encodes a single value, like a search term, including & = / and ?. Turn on 'Full URL' to keep the URL structure (https://, /, ?, &) intact and only encode spaces and special characters.
FAQ
Why does decoding fail?+
Either a % isn't followed by two valid hex digits, or the URL was encoded with a non-UTF-8 charset.
Should spaces be %20 or +?+
%20 is standard in paths. + is used in form-encoded query strings. Turn on 'Spaces as +' if you need the form style.
