Fix text copied from a PDF
Copying from a PDF, a research paper or some websites often leaves a hard line break at the end of every line, so the text breaks apart when you paste it into Word, Google Docs or an email. Paste it on the left and the cleaned text appears on the right. Press [Copy] and you're done.
The default setting, 'Join lines within paragraphs', keeps paragraphs that are separated by a blank line and only joins the broken lines inside each paragraph with a single space. That fixes most PDF copy-paste problems as is.
Three ways to handle line breaks
'Keep' leaves line breaks alone and only cleans up spaces. 'Join lines within paragraphs' keeps your paragraphs. 'Remove all' turns the whole text into one paragraph. Words split with a hyphen at the end of a line (inter-national) are joined back together, and you can turn this off.
When Japanese or Chinese characters meet, no space is added, so CJK text stays exactly as written.
Space cleanup options
'Collapse repeated spaces', 'Trim each line' and 'Clean up special spaces' are on by default. Special space cleanup turns tabs, non-breaking spaces (NBSP) and full-width spaces (U+3000) into normal spaces and removes invisible zero-width characters. In 'Keep' mode you can also remove empty lines.
Line and character counts are shown as before → after, so you can see what changed at a glance.
FAQ
Is my text sent to a server?+
No. Everything runs in your browser and your text never leaves it. Recent history is stored only in this browser, and you can clear it anytime.
All my paragraphs got merged into one.+
That happens with 'Remove all'. Choose 'Join lines within paragraphs' to keep paragraphs. If the original text has no blank lines between paragraphs, add them where needed and clean it again.
A hyphen disappeared from a word.+
Hyphen joining reconnects words that were split at the end of a line. If your text has many words that really need the hyphen at a line break, turn the hyphen option off.
Why are there weird gaps when I paste elsewhere?+
Copied text often contains invisible special spaces such as NBSP or zero-width characters. Keep 'Clean up special spaces' on and they become normal spaces or are removed.
